cars are loosing their texture

Until now only when I'm running the Teltow map, I am experiencing this problem. The map runs good. I have no problems at all, but after a while (20-30 minutes or so) some ai cars are loosing their textures, or they appear without any textures on the map. Over time it seems to be that more ant more cars are loosing their texture, thus appearing white. At a certain moment also the ai busses and some objects are loosing their textures or they are loading very slow.

I am very confused and I have tried several different graphical and ai settings but to no results. Only with the Teltow map I am experiencing this problems. Any other map gives no problems at all.

Any ideas on what would be causing this?

Some system specifications:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 running at 3.7 GHz
4 GB DDR2-800 memory
ATI Radeon HD4890 graphics card with 1024 MB memory

Operating system is Windows 7, 64 bit version

Kind regards,

Harry

have you got the MAN NL bus loaded? (the single decker jobbie)

as when i had that loaded, stunning bus that it is, it caused no end of problems with textures, after a while i'd see cars driving with an axle missing, then the base white textures, then ghost cars only visable by their lights,

Then if i switched buses the NL would loose it's textures,

i've got an i5 2500k running at 4.5 gig,
8 gig of DDR3,
ATI HD 5870 with 1 gig ram,
and had problems even when i dropped the grafix details right down, turned off reflections and shadows etc, i have the gfx memory at 800MB, and regulary saw over 700MB of textures loaded.

I've just removed omsi and re-installed it fresh, havent had the texture loss problem yet, but i havent added the NL bus yet, i am getting odd errors when i knock traffic lights off the posts, but that's another story.

Oh yeah, i dont run the tetlow map, but i get these problems in the berlin 1.4 map, and on moges map, and bad kinzau, and even the stock spandau map... all unfortunately traced to the NL bus it seems, which is a real shame as it's a lovely bus.

In the meanwhile, of course, I could not restist to do some more experimenting. What I have discovered was that the problem was somehow caused by (or had something to do with) the amound of non-scheduled ai traffic setting. Moreover, I am ashamed to sai that I overlooked the recommended settings in the manual of the Teltow map. It states a recommended amount of unscheduled ai of 200. I had mine on 170, so I changed it to 200 and... the problem disapeared!

Omsi seems to be very picky on the settings.

That's indeed interesting.... Did I get that right? The problem was, that your setting for non sceduled traffic was too low?

Yes it helpt a lot by increasing it to 200 or even a bit higher. But, unfortunately sometimes I still get this problem.

The strange thing is that I only experience this with the Teltow map and not with any other map.

I think the problem lies with a texture memory issue within OMSI's game engine, i suppose the allocated memory isn't enough for the level of detail Tetow, Berlin 1.4 and Bad Kinzau offer, not so much your system but the actual program itself. M&R might correct me on that but i think it's the game engine running out of ram for displaying textures.

I don't have any problems with the Berlin 1.4 and Bad Kinzau maps. They are running fine. No matter how high I set the graphics settings (in-game and in my graphics card profile): beside some stuttering and low fps I don't get any texture or memory problem with these maps.

Yes, i guess Tetlow is just a bad optimised map.

There you guess wrong. Teltow is just too big and hast too much ai buses (depending on the "Fahrplanversion"). This is also the opinion of M+R.

As I said in another thread: with some maps it seems that we are already reaching the limits of what the game can handle. And that's a shame.

I think we have to live with it until one lucky day MRSoftware is able to launch a patch. But for me this is not (yet? ^^ ) a problem as I have customized the amount of ai lines in the Teltow map to just 5. And now my pc seems to handle it pretty well.

Yea this is a pity as I have been extending myself Bowdenham with a new Large route and i have Big memory problems because of all the sceneryobjects used.
if i dont set everything to minimum (and i mean everthing) and set Car and people to Zero (or almost) and only have Bus AI traffic

I have rare problems such as Errors when loading heavy buses, Stuttering and flashing of the graphic randomly etc...
all this in the adiction to the random lag i had from before

And i am on GTX580 graphic card with Intel7 2600K 8Gb ram on windows 7 Pro 64bits
I realy shouldnt have this problems, when i bought the pc it was very expensive with all the latest in hardware (is a stationary not a laptop)
I can run shooters fine but i have problems on big maps on omsi.... Also the Scania Truck simulator is lagging and cannot play it

I have the same issue - I will try with Standard Fahrplan. I have Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit and ASUS AMD 6770 (desktop not laptop) and I can run Scania Truck Simulator at full settings so I do not know what your issue comes from Gilgamesh!

Edit: Standard did not help - I think there is a texture missing from the ADDON Teltow splines.

When you miss spline textures in Teltow, then you didn't install it right. There is a step in the manual where you have to copy texture folders to the Teltow splines.

Do you have version 4? If not, download it and then load Teltow's option presets in the graphic settings.
