Heute gibt's mal wieder was von mir zu sehen :-)

Im folgenden Beitrag habe ich mal ein paar Bilder vom derzeitigen Zustand der Spandauer Gleisanlagen zusammengestellt.
Los geht es mit dem Spandauer Fernbahnhof, heute besser bekannt unter dem Namen Stresow und zum reinen S-Bahnhof degradiert. Im Vordergrund die Bahnhofsvorfahrt mit der Wendeschleife für den 5E:

Die S-Bahngleise sind nun mit Stromschienen versehen. Die Abmessungen der Stromschienenträger (Bauart Wannseebahn) sowie deren Abstände sind erstmalig originalgetreu in einer Simulation (einer BUS-Simulation, wohlgemerkt!) nachgebildet:

Ein Überblick über den Spandauer Güterbahnhof. Gut zu erkennen ist, dass in den Hauptgleisen Betonschwellen verwendet werden, während in den Nebengleisen sowie Weichenbereichen klassische Holzschwellen zum Einsatz kommen.

Mit diesem Feuerwerk feiern die Spandauer in OMSI den sechsten Jahrestag ihrer Welterschaffung!

Denn am 12.2.2007 begann die Entwicklung von OMSI mit einer in DirectX 9 gerenderten, cyanfarbenen Zick-Zack-Linie…

Außerdem – das können wir nach wirklich aufwändiger Entwicklungsarbeit nun so langsam behaupten – feiern sie bzw. wir die Fähigkeit von OMSI, nun mehrere Kerne parallel verwenden zu können! Ja, wir können feierlich verkünden:

OMSI 2 wird mittels Multi-Core-Unterstützung nun in typischen Situationen bis zu 50 % mehr Frames erreichen als bei gleichwertiger Situation ohne Multi-Core/Multithreading!

Dem technischen Laien sei hierzu gesagt: Der eigentliche Rendervorgang, also der Bildaufbau, lässt sich generell nicht parallelisieren, d.h. hier war es unmöglich, mit der Multi-Core-Optimierung anzusetzen. Aber bekanntlich ist der Rendervorgang nicht alles - die gesamte Physik, die Scriptabwicklung, Sounds und die KI können nun ebenso parallel zum Rendervorgang ablaufen wie das Nachladen von Texturen, Kacheln und KI-Fahrzeugen - und das macht durchaus viel Unterschied. Sogar Mesh-Generierung wie animierte Meshs oder die Vorbereitungen für Partikelsysteme und Stencil-Schatten-Volumina können ausgelagert werden.

Allen späteren potentiellen Nörglern sei aber auch schon vorweg gesagt: Die Milchmädchenrechnung Gesamtfrequenz = Coreanzahl * Corefrequenz gilt natürlich weiterhin NICHT! Ein Picasso-Bild wird nicht viermal schneller fertig, wenn man vier Picassos an dieselbe Leinwand setzt!

Aber es bringt schon was, wenn eine Sekretärin die Buchhaltung macht und ein Hausmeister die Wohnung in Schuss hält, um mal ein praktisches Beispiel zu wählen!

Und zu beachten ist auch, dass die Framerate in Spandau infolge der Map-Erweiterung andererseits bei uns bereits gefallen ist. Man darf also später keinesfalls den Fehler machen, OMSI 1 mit der alten Spandau-Map von der Leistung direkt mit OMSI 2 mit der neuen Spandau-Map zu vergleichen!

Tchja… und ein Teil der Optimierung wirkte sich, wie man sieht, positiv auf die Partikel-Engine aus!

And – after really much hard work, we can slowly begin to tell it – we also celebrate OMSI's possibility to use more cores in parallel! Yes, we can proudly proclaim:

In typical situations, the framerate/FPS can be increased up to 50 % compared to similar situations without multi core / multi threading!

We can tell the technical novice, that the render process itself, that means the creation of the image you can see, can't be parallelized, that means, it is just impossible to use multi core optimization here. But as you know, that's not everything! The whole physics simulation, the scripts, sounds and AI can now be done parallel to the render process, and the texture, tile and AI vehicle loading can also be done parallel to the other processes. Even mesh generation (animated meshs, preparation of particle systems and stencil shadow volumes) can be sourced out.

But we have to tell all the potential grouches out there: The naive fallacy calculation "Resulting frequency = core count * core frequency" will still not work! A Picasso picture won't be finished four times faster if you have four Picassos working on the same picture! But it would help if a secretary helps doing the office work and a caretaker helps him to keep the apartment in good condition!

And please mind: Of course, you can't compare the old OMSI 1 Spandau map with the new OMSI 2 Spandau map which will be more complex, especially around Rathaus Spandau!

And last but not least, you can see: The optimization also helped to get a much better particle system engine for OMSI!

Einige Neuheiten gibts bei den KI-Autos zu melden: Als einen Wagen der "neueren" Generation der 90er ist jetzt der Peugeot 106 dazu gekommen, außerdem mit dem MB T1 ein typischer Lieferwagen, der natürlich auch gleichzeitig noch als RTW herhalten kann - denn immerhin fährt man ja künftig desöfteren zum Waldkrankenhaus!

Und JA, er wird auch Martinshorn und Blaulicht (für die Jüngeren unter uns: drehende, nicht blitzende Blaulichter!) haben und sogar (das ist schon einprogrammiert und funktioniert ganz passabel) den KI-Verkehr "wegschieben", d.h. sowohl RTW als auch Autos vor ihm werden bei rot fahren und insbesondere ersterer gerne mal mit deutlich überhöhter Geschwindigkeit!

Rüdiger hat außerdem den Bulli umgebaut zum Transporter, der dann mit netten Werbungen für Mittelstandsunternehmer aller Art umher fährt!

Außerdem mal wieder ein wenig Spandau... die Reihe der Altbauten auf der Nordseite der Ruhlebener Str. ist somit abgeschlossen.

Und im Sinne der Hauswerbung: Wann kommt OMSI raus? ♫ "Noch 148 Mails checken....." ♫

Some News with the AI cars: We now made a car of the "newer" generation 90s, the Peugeot 106. Also there is now a typical standard light truck available, the MB T1, which you will see also as ambulance vehicle especially at the Waldkrankenhaus ("forest hospital") in future! And - YES - it will get a siren and rotating (not flashing! ) blue lights. And it will even drive with traffic priority, overspeed and even if the traffic lights are red. And if there are other vehicles in its way, they will do that, too! Rüdiger also changed the VW T3 into a transporter for small business people!

Additionally some new Spandau... the row of old houses north of the Ruhlebener Str. is now finalized with this nice wall advertising.

Einige Neuheiten beim NG272:
* Korrekte Felgen
* weiche Schatten unter den Sitzen
* Decken- und Einstiegsleuchten vorhanden und animiert, ebenso Haltestellenanzeigen und Wagen-Hält-Schilder
* Zahlreiche Cockpitelemente aus D92 übernommen, insbesondere Schalter, Lenkrad, Zahltisch und Fahrscheindrucker
* Fahrerkabine weiter ausgestaltet, insbesondere gibts jetzt auch eine Fahrertür und die noch fehlenden Texturen wurden ergänzt. Das Funkgerät muss natürlich noch in die korrekte Position gebracht werden (sofern der NG bei der BVG nicht ohnehin eine andere Type hatte; hab so das Gefühl...)

* Correct rims
* smooth shadows beneath the seats
* ceiling and entry/exit lights installed and animated, also the bus stop displays and stop request signals
* Several cockpit elements imported from D92, especially switches, steering wheel, ticket desk and printer
* continued work on cockpit area, especially it has now a driver's door and still missing textures were added. The radio's position still has to be corrected (since the NG has not another radio, I'm still not quite sure about it...)

The trip has only busstop information and can be created with the help of an assistant in just a few clicks. And the very best: If you will create chrono-scenarios changing streets or crossings or adding road works or even if you would like to change something forever along the trip, you just have to correct/add a few stnlinks and not all passing tracks!

I've added a German tutorial to the OMSIWiki today (the link: http://www.omnibussimulator.de/omsiwiki.…t_Station-Links ), but until now it has not been translated.

Neuigkeiten gibt's zu berichten betreffend die Terrain-Engine! Nach intensiver Programmierarbeit ist es uns gelungen, die Terrain-Engine um eine "Schneidefunktion" zu erweitern: Splines können ab sofort Löcher ins Terrain schneiden!

Dies bietet zwei neue und bestimmt allseits beliebte Features:

* herkömmliche (alte) Straßen können bei Bedarf im "Automatik-Modus" Löcher schneiden - dann wird das "Messer" am Rand der Spline angesetzt, sodass insbesondere Gehwege oder - falls nicht vorhanden - Bordsteine nahtlos ins Terrain übergehen, sodass es nicht mehr diesen "OMSI-typischen" Absatz gibt, wenn man mal den Gehweg Richtung Terrain verlässt. Allerdings muss noch geprüft werden, ob dies überall fehlerlos machbar ist (soweit muss die Vorfreude an dieser Stelle gedämpft werden). Aber insbesondere gehweglose Straßen (Heerstr.) benötigen nicht mehr den bisherigen "Grasdamm", der verhindert hat, dass man auf dem Terrain bis an die Straße heranmalen kann.

* spezielle Bauwerke (insbesondere Spundwände oder wie gezeigt der Beton-Einschnitt der Hafenbahn in Spandau) können manuell Löcher schneiden, ganz nach Bedarf. Hierüber sind dann auch endlich Tunneleinfahrten möglich, wobei diese aktuell - wie gesagt - nur über Splines realisiert werden können. Aber die Möglichkeit, dass auch Objekte ins Terrain Löcher schneiden können, ist natürlich in Planung.

In allen Fällen übrigens passt sich das Terrain (meistens

) sauber an die Schnittkante an, d.h. gerade auch Einschnitte bei Gebirgsstraßen können künftig sauberer konstruiert werden!

We have some very interesting news concerning the terrain engine! After lot of development work, our terrain engine now has a "cutting" function: Splines can cut holes into the terrain now!

This leads into two new features:

* for old street splines, you have an automatic mode: If this will be activated, the terrain will be cutted exactly at the edges of the spline. So you can now create a smooth transition between terrain and sidewalk or (if not existant) edge stone. So it is now possilbe to remove this "OMSI-like" gap between edge of street spline and terrain. But of course we do not know yet, if this will work at every point in every map with every spline without errors.

* special buildings are possible with manual defined cutting edge, e.g. tunnel mouths (as shown in the screenshots) or steel pilings. Until now, only splines can cut holes, but of course we have plans to add this feature also to normal objects so that you can also create "typical" vertical tunnel mouths in future.

In all cases, the terrain will adapt (mostly ) perfectly to the splines, so there are now better possibilites to construct mountain streets being lower then the surrounding terrain!

Nachdem die Katze nun aus dem Sack ist, ist es an der Zeit, dies nun auch offiziell anzukündigen:

Zusammen mit Wien bzw. dem O305 wird auch ein Patch erscheinen, OMSI 1.03 1.04! Dieser Patch ist frei für alle registrierten User von OMSI erhältlich.

Wichtige Features im Überblick:

Allgemein:
--------------------------------------
* Patch 1.03 wird für Addons benötigt, welche über einen Kopierschutz verfügen
* Optionen werden schneller aufgerufen, zeitaufwändiges Laden der Triggerliste erfolgt erst, wenn Tab Tastatur/Gamecontroller aufgerufen wird.
* Gedämpfte Lenkung möglich, wenn man mit Tastatur fährt (optional).
* Beim Fahrscheinkauf wird immer geredet. Nur Geld aufn Tresen wird nicht mehr praktiziert.
* Kollisionen mit Schienenfahrzeugen führen nicht mehr zu deren bizarrem Entgleisen.
* Neue Kommandozeileneinträge für das Erstellen von Logfiles:

"-savelogs" sorgt dafür, dass die Logfiles ein Datum und eine Uhrzeit angehängt bekommen,
wodurch sie nicht mehr gegenseitig überschrieben werden. Dadurch allerdings "müllt" sich das Hauptverzeichnis natürlich zu! Aber allen
Beta-Testern empfehlen wir diese Option, damit ggf. auf ältere Logfiles zugegriffen werden kann.

"-nolog" schaltet das Logging komplett ab.

"-logall" weitet das Logging auf sehr viel mehr Einträge aus, die eventuell bei hartnäckigen Fehlern helfen können. Hierdurch verzögert sich der Ladevorgang allerdings erheblich!

Grafik/Performance:
--------------------------------------
* Rückspiegel-Performance verbessert: Nur noch sichtbare Rückspiegel werden gerendert. Ist nur einer sichtbar, läuft dieser genauso flüssig wie die gesamte Simulation.
* Anisotropische Filterung standardmäßig aktiviert und muss nicht mehr über den Grafiktreiber erzwungen werden.
(Somit sollten Effekte wie verschwimmende Fahrbahnmarkierungen bei heutigen Grafikkarten nicht mehr auftreten)
* Realistischere Nachtdarstellung durch verringerte Reflexionen bei Dunkelheit: z.B. beleuchtete Rollbänder wirken realer, da leuchtstärker.
* Rückspiegelseitenverhältnis standardmäßig 16:10, nicht mehr abhängig vom Bildschirmseitenverhältnis

Fahrzeuge (allgemein)
--------------------------------------
* Feste Kennzeichenlisten mit fester Zuordnung zu den Nummern für Fahrzeuge möglich
* Kennzeichen kann bei Fahrzeugauswahl generell frei eingestellt werden (muss aber nicht).
* Zahlreiche Rollbandziele für Spandau an Vorbild angepasst

Fahrzeugfunktionen/Scripting:
--------------------------------------
* Option "Automatische Kupplung"
* Abfragemöglichkeit, wieviele Personen auf einem bestimmten Pfad sind (z.B. für animierbare Schranken usw.)
* Türweise Anforderung von Außen (Türaußentaster) und Innen ("Mehrfachhaltewunsch")

Beseitigte Bugs:
--------------------------------------
* Parkende Autos haben realistischere Trägheitswerte für realistischere Kollisionen
* Hüpfen nach Fahrplanauswertung beseitigt
* Identische Beschwerden werden nicht mehr gleichzeitig abgespielt (insbesondere bei Ärgernissen über den Fahrstil). Dies führte ohnehin nur zu merkwürdigen unerwünschten Sound-Effekten.
* Kein Absturz, wenn Audio-Gerät fehlt
* Alle Bedankungs-Sprachdateien heißen jetzt korrekterweise "Thanks_1.wav"
* Türfenster der SD202-KI-Modelle werden korrekt dargestellt
* In Spandau fahren jetzt auch standardmäßig D87- und D88-Busse

Map-Editor/Features für Addon-Bauer:
--------------------------------------
* Versehentliches Löschen der Bodentexturen durch OMSI bei der Arbeit mit dem Map-Editor sollte hoffentlich der Vergangenheit angehören
* Map kann mit möglichen Standardjahreszahlen versehen werden (damit man nicht mehr auf jede Karte immer - je nach Einstellunge - im Jahre 1988 oder heute spielt).
* Haltestellenhäuschen mit wechselnden Werbungen als Script-Vorschlag
* "Internettexturen", welche vor dem Start von OMSI aus dem Internet aktualisiert werden
* Fehlender Eintrag für AI-Veh-List im AI-Fahrplan führt nicht mehr zum Absturz sondern zu einer sinnvollen Fehlermeldung in der Logfile.
* [fixed] kann auch für Fahrzeuge genutzt werden, die dann bei Kollisionen als "unendlich schwer" eingestuft werden.
* Reichsbahn-Ra11-Signal ("W"), für den, der einen typischen alten Rangierbahnhof in seiner Karte hat!

After the cat was let out of the bag, it is time to announce officially:

Together with Vienna respectively the O305 we will release a patch, OMSI 1.03 1.04! This patch will be free for all registred OMSI users.

Overview of important features:

General:
--------------------------------------
* Patch 1.03 will be needed by addons using the new copy protection
* Faster options dialogue, time-expensive trigger list will only load after selecting keyboard / gamecontroller configuration tab.
* Keyboard steering damping available (optional).
* Passengers will always speak to you while ticket selling. Giving only money without any word won't happen anymore.
* Collisions with railroad vehicles won't lead into crazy derailings.
* New command line entrys to affect logging:

"-savelogs" each logfile will be named with date and time, so they won't overwrite each other. But please mind: This can lead to much garbage
in your omsi directory! So you should only use it during beta testings and such things.

"-nolog" Switch off logging completely. Could help you increasing performance.

"-logall" Many more logfile entrys. This could help finding mysterious errors, but reduces performance and increases loading time significantly.

Graphics / Performance:
--------------------------------------
* Mirror performance increased: Only visible mirrors will be rendered. If there is only one visible, it will be rendered as fast as the whole simulation and won't stutter anymore.
* Anisotropic filtering will be activated by default and may not be done by graphics driver
(so effects like blurring street markings should not be visible anymore)
* More realistic night graphics due to reduced reflexions in darkness: especially night lighted roller blinds will be looking more real (lighter)
* Mirror ratio now fixed at 16:10, depends not on screen ratio anymore

Vehicle (general)
--------------------------------------
* Fixed number plate lists with fixed assignment to vehicle numbers possible
* Number plate can be typed free on every vehicle (but can also left free if standard plate number should be used).
* Several roller blind terminus displays adapted to reality

Vehicle functions / scripting:
--------------------------------------
* Option "automatic clutch" (needs script modifications)
* Function to get number of passengers on one special vehicle path (e.g. for animations due to walking passengers in bus)
* Door-wise stop and open requests (for door opening buttons outside or multiple bus stop requests)

Removed bugs:
--------------------------------------
* Parking cars have more realistic inertia values for more realistic collisions
* Jumping after trip analysis removed
* The same passenger complains won't be played simutaneously anymore (in the past, this fact lead to crazy sound effects while complaining)
* No crash if there is no sound device plugged in
* Every "thank you" speech file is now named correctly as "Thanky_1.wav"
* Door windows of SD202 AI models corrected
* Added D87 and D88 AI buses in Spandau

Map Editor / Features for addon creators:
--------------------------------------
* Erroneous deletion of ground paintings in Map Editor should not happen anymore
* Map can be fitted with standard years which will be selected randomly if you are not playing with "current year" options.
* Bus stop huts fitted with changing advertisements (script template for you! )
* "Internet textures": When OMSI starts, it will check if these files have been updated since last start and will download them (if this is true).
* Missing entry for AI vehicle list in AI schedule won't lead to crash anymore but to logfile error message.
* [fixed] can be used also for rail vehicles to make them "infinite heavy".
* Reichsbahn Ra11 Signal ("W") for everyone who likes to create a nice old East German switch yard!

Aufgrund interner Gründe heißt der Patch nun 1.04 und wird (wenn alles klappt) noch heute bei Aerosoft verfügbar sein! (Wir werden uns hier wohl noch etwas länger Zeit lassen...

)

Due to internal reasons, the new patch will have the version number 1.04 and - if nothing will disturb the process - even today you will get it via Aerosoft! (I think it will take a little bit more time till it will be available on our own website... )

ACHTUNG:

Wie ihr euch denken könnten, funktionieren Addons und Mods natürlich nicht unbedingt weiterhin fehlerlos, wenn ihr das Patch einfach "drüberinstalliert"! Ihr solltet besser OMSI "sauber" neuinstallieren und Addons danach ebenfalls neu installieren.

AUSSERDEM: Der Kommentarthread ist nicht der Support-Thread! Bitte klärt Fragen oder Probleme im Support-Bereich!
